Drake Drops Incredible Visuals for ‘Hotline Bling’

Drake drops visuals for Hotline Bling

Yes! The hottest song of the year FINALLY has a video (and we aren’t sure if we like this one or the rendition Vashtie made better- what do you think?) Drake released the visuals for ‘Hotline Bling’ late last night only on Apple Music. The video, which features a very Apple-esque branding theme with the clean color ways and neon lights, was directed by Director X, who is most famously known for creating riveting music videos for Aaliyah back in the day. X has worked with Drake on several occasions, including shooting the infamous “Started From the Bottom” video and has also produced iconic movies for Usher’s “Yeah” and Nelly’s “Hot in Herre.” Needless to say, it only made sense that the two linked up again for, arguably, Drake’s fastest selling hit this year.

Drake took to Instagram to let his fans know that “Hotline Bling” was at the number two Billboard spot on the charts. He then proceeded to tell them that he’s actually never had a number one Billboard single. (Who knew?!) As the song remains on the second place on the chart, Drake dropped the video in hopes that it might just creep up to the winning spot.

Many people don’t know, but “Hotline Bling” isn’t actually Drake’s song. The smash was originated as D.R.A.M.’s “Cha Cha,” and the King of Remixes put his spin on it to make it his. This is one of Drake’s most infamous skills, as he has helped artists like Makonnen rise to the top by making their songs his own – and most of the time, they’re a hundred times better than the original version. However, once ‘Hotline Bling’ took off on the charts, D.R.A.M. wasn’t the happiest camper. He took to Twitter to vent his frustration after performing in Drake’s hometown of Toronto to where Erykah Badu even sent him some love!

This is D.R.A.M’s original video for “Cha Cha”:
